Domestic travel within Nepal: Kathmandu is connected by air to other parts of Nepal by private airlines such as Yeti Airlines, Tara Airlines, Buddha Airlines and others, as well as helicopter services. Yeti Airlines and Buddha Airlines operate regular flights to cities such as Pokhara, Bharatpur, Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj, while Tara Airlines operates flights to short take-off and landing (STOL) sectors such as Lukla and Jomsom. Recently, regular flights between Pokhara and Bharatpur, and Pokhara and Bhairahawa have been instated, and there are plans to operate flights between Pokhara and Nepalgunj. Domestic flights use mostly ATR and Jet Stream aircraft to cities, and Twin Otter and Dornier aircraft for STOL sectors. When taking domestic flights in any sector in Nepal there may be delays of some hours, sometimes leading to cancellation, due to unavoidable circumstances, mainly the weather. In the case of flight cancellations, passengers will not be provided with accommodation or other services by airlines. Passengers have to make their own arrangements.
