Khopra Danda Trek, also known as Khopra Ridge Trek, is an ideal trek if you prefer off the beaten trail where you can immerse yourself completely in the natural beauty of the Himalayas and meet a small handful of locals in their tiny mountain communities.

This scenic trek takes you through villages close to the Annapurnas where you can admire the magnificence of the Himalayas and avoid the crowd who preferably opt for the popular Ghorepani trail.

It offers unrivaled views into the valley and close to Dhaulagiri and the 22 peaks of the Annapurnas. Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7061m), Bharha Shikhar (7647m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6434m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Gangapurna (7455m), Tukuche peak (6920m), Hiuchuli (6441m) are the panoramic peaks visible in the route that takes you through local trail that descends into the Annapurna valley.

Hike up to Khayer Lake (4600m) at the foot of the Annapurna South is an unforgettable experience. Its a bit tough but once you reach the Khayer lake, you will be awestruck by the surrounding.

Transfer from Pokhara to Syauli Bazar. Trek to Ghandruk.

Drive from Pokhara to Syauli Bazar and from here set out on the trek to Ghandruk. The trail descends steeply to Birethanti and follows the west bank of Modi Khola to reach Shaulee Bazaar before climbing again to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the most scenic and popular trek that can be done from Pokhara.

Ghandruk offers very close view of Annapurnas and the view during sunset and sunrise is fantastic. The walk provides you the breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli. The Mountain view is very beautiful and the trail is relatively easy. The highest point is only 2000 m. So there is no risk of altitude sickness. All of these make this trek an ideal choice for everyone looking for short trek in Annapurna foothills.

Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani

The trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani is a picturesque adventure through the heart of the Annapurna region in Nepal. Beginning in the charming village of Ghandruk with its stunning mountain vistas, the trek winds along lush green valleys, terraced fields, and rhododendron forests.

The trail offers breathtaking panoramas of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks. As you ascend, the landscape transforms, revealing a diverse range of flora and fauna. Upon reaching Tadapani, perched on a ridge, trekkers are treated to magnificent views and a serene ambiance, making it a rewarding stop along this unforgettable journey in the Himalayas.

Trek from Tadapani to Dobato. 

On this day, you will divert from the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking trail to a less-used path. Walking through rhododendron forests, you will come across buffalo pastures and small clearings.

Though you have to ascend hills, it will not be a tiring day. It takes approximately three hours to reach Isharu where you can have lunch. After that, you have to go through rhododendron forests again for about two and half hours to reach Dobato.

If you have spare time, you can visit Muldai View Point which is half an hour’s ascent away from Dobato. It is an excellent place to observe the panorama of Himalayan ranges like Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, etc. Morning is the excellent time for sunrise view over those giant mountains.

Trek from Dobato to Chistibung with Hike to Muldai Peak.

Embarking on a thrilling 30-minute uphill hike to Muldai View Point at dawn promises an awe-inspiring sunrise spectacle. Returning to Dobato’s lodge for a hearty breakfast marks the start of another exciting leg of your journey.

The trail ahead leads through undulating paths, swiftly alternating between uphill climbs and downhill descents in the enchanting rhododendron forests. Within an hour’s walk lies Bayli Kharka, a picturesque pasture offering an up-close encounter with the majestic Dhaulagiri range.

This juncture marks your immersion into the authentic charm of rural Nepal. Continuing onwards, the trek spans roughly three hours to reach Chistibung. Here, amidst this rustic setting, a small community and private lodges await, providing modest yet comfortable accommodations for your stay.

Trek from Chistibung  to Khopra Danda.

This day’s trek to Khopra Danda is relatively manageable, spanning a maximum of three hours. It’s wise to have a substantial breakfast and carry extra provisions to sustain your energy en route.

Given the uphill terrain, frequent rests might be necessary. Keep an eye out for sightings of the Himalayan tahr and Nepal’s national bird, the Danfe, adding an exciting touch to your journey. Reaching Khopra Danda for lunch will undoubtedly fill you with an indescribable sense of accomplishment, thanks to its unparalleled panoramic views. Excursion Day to Khayer lake 

Starting early, this is the longest, but prettiest day as you walk to the sacred Khayer Lake, the most scenic blue-colored lake at the foot of Annapurna South. It is a place of Hindu pilgrimage (4700m), which is believed will help achieve Nirvana. You climb a steep trail on the ridge with stone steps with a gorgeous view of the Annapurna South. There is a small temple dedicated to Khayer Barahi at the lake, you then return back to Khopra Ridge and stay there overnight.

Transfer from Narchyang to Pokhara via Beni (820m)

You climb down to Tatopani from Narchyang for about half an hour. It is then a 3 hours’ drive to Beni, and you are driven back to your hotel in Pokhara.
