BB Airways starts commercial flights

BB Airways, a start-up Nepali airlines company, on Thursday started commercial flights on the Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur sector with its Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
Launching the airlines, Prime Minister Bhattarai said the government was ready to provide private airline companies with equal privilege it has been offering to state-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation.
The carrier will be flying four weekly—Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday—scheduled flights to Kuala Lumpur and three weekly—Monday, Friday and Sunday—scheduled flights to Hong Kong. The carrier has been permitted to fly to Hong Kong, Delhi, Tokyo, Doha, Bangkok and Singapore.
Although the airline was scheduled to start its service from September 13, the plan was postponed to October 11 to mark the NRNA Day. The carrier has been conducting chartered flights to Seam Reap, Cambodia.
As per the carrier’s strategic plan, two Boeing 767s will also be added to the fleet in the near future to serve Shanghai, Frankfurt, London, Seoul, Sydney and Lhasa. BB Airways got its Airlines Operator’s Certificate on April 12. Its ICAO call sign is BBW and IATA code is BO.
