Nepal police patrol to assist ‘lost’ tourist in Langtang

It has only been six months since police officers started patrolling the area and the result has been exciting. Deployment of security forces inside the park has instilled a sense okathmandu-valley-trekf security among the locals as well as tourists visiting the park.

“Deployment of police in the park area has reduced the risk of tourists getting lost as we keep constant watch on their activities,” said Dhaubevi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

“Until three years ago, it was common for tourists to get lost inside the park area. But no such incident has occurred since police deployment in the area,” said Dhaubedi.

Increasing cases of robbery inside the park had prompted deployment of police inside the park area. The police also maintain records of the tourists entering the area. Tourists while entering the park are required to fill out a form that seek their details including their name, address, phone number and purpose of visiting the park.

“We especially keep track of tourists who come to visit the park alone as they are the most vulnerable lot,” said assistant inspector Chandra Bahadur Tamang. The park is visited by around19, 000 – 20,000 foreign tourists annually.
