Counter for TIMS opens in Thamel

TAAN10 Nov 2014, Kathmandu – Kathmandu Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has opened counter for Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) in Manang Plaza, Thamel.

TAAN believes that this new counter will save time as trekking agencies and foreigners can get TIMS cards in Thamel – the tourist hotspot in Kathmandu Valley – itself. The counter will open from 7am to 6 in the evening, and from 10 am till 1 pm on public holidays. From now, foreign trekkers — both FITs and those traveling in groups — can get TIMS card from the counter. Continue reading

Trekking permit system to go online

KATHMANDU, Jan 16:Foreign tourists planning to trek will soon be able to collect government permits to embark on the journey from the Internet.

The online service will be introduced once the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Tourism Board complete the process of automating Trekking Information Management System (TIMS), through which mandatory permits for most of the trekking routes are issued. Continue reading
