Vivaha Panchami is one of the sacred festivals in Hindu script. It is about commemorating the marriage of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. On this day, Lord Rama, hero of epic Ramayana, is also an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, visits Janakpur to get married with Goddess Sita.
In the epic Ramayana, prince of Aydohya, Lord Rama comes to Janakpur, now in present Nepal, to participate in the competition, which was hosted by the father of Sita, Raja Janak. Raja Janak announces that only brave enough who could, at least, move the bow of Lord Shiva can marry his daughter Sita. His challenge was making his daughter missing handsome princes, as there wasn’t any brave prince that could ever move the bow. However, Rama not only moves the bow but also breaks it. This is how Lord Rama and Goddess Sita fasten their faith of love.
On this day, Janakpur becomes as beautiful as it could have been in medieval times. Devotees from across the India visit Nepal, Janakpur, to worship and respect this holy land.
This year, Vivaha Panchami is falling on 27th November.Social tagging: Raja Janak > Rama > Sita > Vivaha Panchami
