Trip Overview

Holi is the festival of colors that signifies the arrival of spring. It is a day of fun and festivity. People of all ages smear each other with colored powder, throw water, and celebrate by dancing and singing. Religiously, Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil.

The Tharu community in Bardiya Community Homestay has preserved the traditional way of celebrating Holi. The festivities start a day before the main day of the festival, where you can take part in making a Holika – holy pyre that will be set on fire during the night to mark the start of the festival and the victory of good over evil.

Embrace an unparalleled encounter with genuine Tharu culture as you engage in immersive interactions and keen observations of the local way of life at Bardiya Community Homestay. Prepare to embark on an enthralling half-day jeep safari through the vast expanse of Bardiya National Park, a unique Tharu cultural program of the indigenous tribe. Amidst the adventure and cultural immersion, a tranquil and invigorating short walk, leads you to the serene banks of the majestic Karnali River.

Experiencing Holi with Bardiya Community Homestay along with the rich culture and wildlife, will certainly be an unforgettable episode for life.  On this day, the whole village will be coming together to celebrate the vibrant festival.

NOTE: Please be advised that this is a group trip option, and we also offer the flexibility to tailor it as a private experience. Kindly note that the trip cost may be adjusted for private bookings, and is therefore subject to change accordingly.
