Contact UsOur Silver Jewelry Making Workshop will introduce you to a mastery of Nepali craft: Silver has traditionally been used for many purposes throughout cultures and history. You will create your own unique jewelry inspired by the majestic Himalayas and ancient architecture.
Filigree is a delicate, lacelike ornamental openwork composed of intertwined wire threads of gold or silver, widely used since antiquity for jewelry. The art consists of curling, twisting, or plaiting fine, pliable metal threads and soldering them at their points of contact with each other and, if there is one, with the metal groundwork.
Today you will learn about the traditional method of jewelry making. You will create a design inspired by the rich culture and heritage of Nepal. You will arrive in Patan, the city of fine arts, where medieval arts and architecture still remain in its original state. You will love to explore the surroundings as you head onto the workshop. The artisan will traditionally welcome you, who will familiarize you with your activity for the day.
This session will give you an insight into the culture and lifestyle of the locals. After a brief introduction, you will be guided by the artisan who has dedicated a long time to the art through generations, and through the making process with demonstrations and techniques.
After 2 to 3 hours of workshop, you will realize and appreciate the dedication and hard work put through to create a masterpiece! You will be served a delicious Newari lunch after a well-deserved work. After you are done, you can take home the piece that you have just created as a souvenir.
