Yoga Instructor for the Trip – CLAUDIA GARCIA PUIG

 Clàudia, a Registered Dietitian and certified 500 hr Yoga Teacher is from Spain (Barcelona). She took her training at Nepal Yoga Home, and since then she has been practicing and teaching at Avata Wellness Center. She is specialized in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, and also incorporates Singing Bowls in her sessions for a deeper experience.

Itinerary

Arrival Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel. Opening ceremony. One to one Nutrition consultation. Orientation Walk Kathmandu Durbar Square and Thamel.

You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu and transferred to your hotel. You will be welcomed by your Tour leader with an opening ceremony and inaugurate the Retreat session with tea and snacks. There will be one-to-one consultation on your food habits and nutrition. You can relax in the hotel lobby or in your room until your turn.

Later, you will be going for a tour around Kathmandu Durbar Square enlisted as one of the eight World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Kathmandu Durbar Square, is a cluster of ancient temples like Kumari Chowk; the Courtyard of the living Goddess “Kumari”, Aakash Bhairav Temple, Temple of Lord Machhindranath, palace courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th and 18th centuries.

You will walk through Itumbahal, an old Newari settlement set in a large courtyard and famous for its traders in herbal spices and medicines. From here you continue to Indrachowk, one of Kathmandu’s most colorful and ancient local markets and Ason chowk; another market dedicated to spices and local vegetables, and Annapurna temple, which is dedicated to the goddess of Grains. Heading to Thamel, a popular tourist hub, you can familiarize yourself with the local culture and surroundings.

You will then return to Hotel Traditional Comfort for a relaxed evening.

Morning Meditation and Yoga. Nutrition consultation. Visit Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. Discourse/ reflection on death (Buddhism). Transfer to Avata Wellness Center for Yoga and Shirodhara.

Begin your day with a session of morning Meditation and Yoga. Later, enjoy a nutritious breakfast. Remaining participants have their one-on-one nutrition consultation with the tour leader, others have their time free. You will be visiting other UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple today, and engage in discussions and reflections on death according to Buddhism.

Sightseeing of Swayambhunath Stupa – on top of a conical hill, reached by climbing a few steps, where a panoramic view of Kathmandu city can be witnessed. The Buddhist pilgrimage center –  Swayambhunath Stupa, situated on the top of a hill, west of Kathmandu, is one of the most popular, holy, and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the ‘monkey temple because of the large tribe of roving monkeys who guard the temple.

Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to the Hindu Lord – Shiva, the God of Destruction, also known as Pashupatinath (Lord of Animals) is, moreover, one of the final destinations for Hindu devotees of all around the world. Built in around 400 A.D, the temple is located by the holy river Bagmati, decorated within the perfection of ancient arts and crafts. Four of the main gates of the temple are made of silver. Each gate is allocated for the four-faced lingam (phallic symbol of Shiva), which is to express that the blessing of the lord shall spread in all four directions around the world.

Many Hindu Sadhus from all around the world are spotted around preference of the temple, with long dreadlocks, meditating by the bank of the Bagmati river, and occasionally smoking marijuana, seen impersonating Lord Shiva.

Later, you will be transferred to Avata Wellness Center, where you have some free time to relax or explore on your own. You can enjoy a group yoga workshop to deepen in your practice and improve asanas. After that, you can experience a soothing SHIRODHARA treatment at the spa, an ancient technique to lower stress and anxiety and to improve your serotonin levels. In the evening, you will indulge in a specially curated dinner at Nourish, aligning with the personalized nutrition consultations.

It’s a wrap up for the day and you will return to Hotel Traditional Comfort for a restful night.

Morning Meditation and Yoga. “Nourishing the Microbiome” Workshop. Transfer to Avata Wellness for Singing bowl and Chakra healing session. Dinner at Nourish.

Begin the day with Morning Meditation and Yoga to set a positive tone. You can enjoy a wholesome breakfast and some free time. Later, you will be engaged in “Nourishing the Microbiome” workshop, focusing on beating anxiety, enhancing immunity and boosting energy. After the workshop, you will have some free time to relax. Later, you will participate in a talk that delves into the scientific evidence behind journaling and daily routines.

In the evening, you will be transferred to Avata Wellness Center, where you will immerse in the experience of Singing Bowl and Chakra Healing.

Sound is an inevitable experience and a fundamental part of our lives. We commonly use it for communication and entertainment purpose, without thinking much about its purposefulness. Sound is produced by all matters and travel in the form of vibrations that have profound impacts on our mind and body. Sound, since many years, has been used for healing and therapeutic processes by cultures and traditions around the world. In Nepal, sound therapy is visibly used in religious spaces, during shamanic practices, during sound baths, in everyday lives through chanting, and so on.

Later, you will be delighted to have a nourishing dinner at its restaurant. You will then return to Hotel Traditional Comfort to unwind and prepare for the next day.

Morning Meditation and Yoga. Transfer to Thimi. Pottery making session. Sightseeing Bhaktapur. Ecstatic Dance session.

Begin your day with the Meditation, Yoga, and Pranayama to invigorate the body and mind. You can then relish a nutritious breakfast to fuel the day. After breakfast, you will drive to Thimi for a hands-on experience on traditional Pottery making session, this would be a therapeutic session connecting with local craftsmen.  

Later, you will embark on a captivating sightseeing tour in Bhaktapur Durbar Square, exploring historical architecture and heritage, made up of three large squares filled with many shrines and temples. Bhaktapur is the essential Newari city with some of the finest architecture in Nepal. In its heyday (14th-16th centuries) Bhaktapur was the most powerful of the Kathmandu Valley kingdoms and its capital for 300 years.

Despite earthquakes and frequent rebuilding, Bhaktapur today retains a medieval feel; its neighborhoods are still caste-oriented and centered around the old ponds or tanks (built to store water for drinking, washing and religious ceremonies) and which continue as a social focal point. Local people here are predominantly farmers or engaged in the traditional crafts of pottery, metalwork, art and woodwork which have supported the city since its establishment in the 12th century to service the trade route between Tibet and India and remain active industries. A fascinating place to explore!

You will check into the Hotel Bhadgaon for today. Later, you will experience an ecstatic dance session coupled with emotion release therapy.

Flight to Pokhara. Transfer to Kande. Hike to Australian Camp. Restorative Yoga session.

You shall begin with a good breakfast at the Hotel. After which, you will be transferred to the airport to catch a morning flight to Pokhara city. The flight is about 25 minutes and will witness the breathtaking view Pokhara offers, an extraordinary scenic beauty of the mountain ranges, hills, lakes, etc. Pokhara is the best place for travelers, adventurers and trekkers. It is the popular gateway to Annapurna Circuit.

You will check in at Temple Tree Resort for a relaxing stay. In the afternoon, you will drive to Kande. From Kande,

its approx. 3 hours’ hike. First, you will be walking downhill and then uphill until you reach Australian Base Camp. The trail is a steep stone-paved surrounded by forests. You will see the silent Pokhara valley resting peacefully in the lap of green hills. You will be engaged in a Restorative Yoga session.

From Australian Camp, you will trek to Dhampus, a typical Nepali village through the jungle trail, and to Phedi along an age-old trail of stone steps. At Phedi, your drive will be waiting to take you back to the hotel to unwind and rejuvenate.

Meditation and Yoga. Drive to Hemjaphedi. Hemjakot Day Hike.  Farm Activity. Hip-opening yoga session.

You will embrace the serenity of Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation in the morning. Later, savor a nutritious breakfast to kick-start the day. You will dive into a Workshop focusing on Nutrition and Yoga Asanas for promoting longevity. Adding a touch of exploration to the day, you will drive via Baglung Highway to Hemjaphedi, where your hike starts. You will be walking about 2 hours uphill to Hemjakot village crossing through lush jungles and small settlements. At Hemjakot, local people warmly welcome you with the tikas, garlands, and Bhangras (a white cloth worn criss-cross over the chest) as per the local Pokhreli tradition. A short hike to the Hemjakot viewpoint offers a spectacular view of surrounding valleys, the Annapurna range, and the gigantic Macchapuchre “Fishtail.”

You will have a wholesome local lunch with one of the families who are part of the Community Homestay Network, a program they have embraced for the chance it offers to meet and learn about people from all over the world, as well as support their income. They are keen to show you their homes and their way of life. You can even help with some of their daily tasks if you feel like it.

You can move around and explore the quaint village inhabited by multi-ethnic people. Since Hemjakot is just half an hour’s drive from Pokhara, you can easily observe the cultural differences between the people living in the city and the rural area. This is a great opportunity to see the day-to-day lifestyle of the local rural people. For Nepali people, “Guests are considered as God.” So, wherever you go, you will be welcomed with a warm, comfy, and friendly smile. If you feel like participating in their daily activities, and even seasonal farming activities, they will be elated to have you around.

Later, you can participate in a hip-opening yoga session for emotional release.

Once everything is done for the day you will be driving back to Pokhara, admiring the views and sunset. You can nourish yourself with a delicious and healthy dinner

Morning Meditation and Yoga. Transfer to Chitwan.

Begin the day with a yoga and pranayama session. Enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel the day. After breakfast, you will drive to Chitwan via Prithvi Highway across Narayani River. Chitwan is inhabited by ethnic Tharu community, close to Chitwan National Park with wildlife inhabiting its tropical forests. You will check in at Himalayan Wildlife Sanctuary for a tranquil stay. You can visit around the village if you reach early.

Morning Meditation and Yoga. Group Jungle Activities.

In the morning, you will engage in a revitalizing session of Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. Relish a nourishing breakfast to energize the body. And prepare to participate in a group visit to the National Park, immersing in nature and wildlife. You will explore the wildlife as you go for a nature walk and jeep safari. The canoe ride is one of the activity that you would not want to miss. You will partake in a Workshop focused on delving inward to address fears, worries, and insecurities. Later you can relax and enjoy the sundowner.

Meditation and Yoga. Transfer to Pharping.

Soak up into the benefits of the Morning Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. Today, you will depart for Pharpng, your stop for the night. Enjoy a wholesome breakfast. Driving past the dense forest and fertile lowlands of Terai., you drive via East-West Highway. Pharping is a small Newar town lying above the Bagmati River on the southern edge of the Kathmandu valley. It is also an important site for Buddhist pilgrimage and monasteries. Pharping boasts extraordinary, panoramic views. From the top of the hill, the view of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley is simply breathtaking. It’s not just a breath of fresh air; It’s an enriching experience and the best way to get a taste of local, farming life in a Nepalese village. You will check in at Neydo Monastery Hotel for a unique stay.

Morning Prayer Chants. Transfer to Kirtipur. Momo cooking workshop. Lunch. Transfer to Avata. Yoga and Deep Tissue Massage. Closing ceremony.

Early in the morning, you can join in the serene Prayer Chanting session with the Monks in the monastery. After that you will continue with an energetic session of Yoga and Meditation. Later, relish a nourishing breakfast.

After breakfast, you head onto Kirtipur, an ancient Newari town, where you will participate in an interesting Momo Making and Cooking Workshop at Kirtipur Community Homestay and enjoy making the dumplings and taste of it. There you will have your lunch.

Later, you will travel back to Kathmandu and check in at Hotel Traditional Comfort. After a short break, you will head onto Avata Wellness Center for further activity. You will be engaged in a Workshop discussing nutrition and yoga practices for improving sleep. Finally, you will get indulged in a good spa treatment, experiencing a Deep Tissue Massage.

You will be ending your day savoring a flavorful dinner at Nourish, and participate in a Closing Ceremony to conclude the experience.

Transfer to Airport for onward destination.

Bid farewell to the journey as you depart for your respective destinations, carrying cherished memories and new insights from the retreat.

As per airlines regulation, travelers need to check in to their respective airlines counter at around 2.30 hours before the scheduled flight time. Your booked airport transfer will be at your hotel, ready to take you to the airport. Depending upon the traffic on the road, the drive from your hotel to airport may take around 30 minutes or more.
