Nepal has expanded its official list of 8000-meter peaks, adding six more mountains and bringing the total count to 14. The updated list, released by the Department of Tourism, highlights the country’s growing prominence in the global mountaineering sector.

The newly included peaks are located in the Kanchenjunga and Lhotse regions, areas already known for their extreme altitude and challenging terrain. While the update has been recognized at the national level, international validation from global mountaineering authorities is still awaited.

This development could open new possibilities for high-altitude expeditions and strengthen Nepal’s position as a leading destination for adventure and mountain tourism.
