Pokhara, Nepal –

The third international airport in Nepal, Pokhara Regional International Airport, opened for business on Sunday.

The airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Pokhara granted its residents the day off so they could celebrate the realization of a five-decade-old goal.

The airport is located in the scenic view of the renowned Annapurna Circuit trekking route.

The runway at Pokhara International Airport is 2,500 meters long, 45 meters wide, and oriented east-west. The taxiway, which is 1,200 meters long and 23 meters wide, connects the runway to the parking areas, hangars, and terminals.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal reports that while domestic flights will begin at the new airport immediately, no date has been set for the start of international flights.
