KATHMANDU: It’s tattoo time because the grand celebration of body art is back. With some mind-blowing and passionate tattooers and their artistic expressions along with other forms of body art, the 4th International Nepal Tattoo Convention is back. So, let’s get inked at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg on April 25, 26 and 27.
According to a press statement issued by the organiser Nepal Tattoo Pvt Ltd, the convention will be participated by around 90 national and international artists. The three-day festival will also have quite a few body modification and piercing artists like in the previous years. In addition, the organisers of international tattoo conventions like the organisers of London Tattoo Convention — prime tattoo convention in the world — will be part of this convention, which is the biggest get-together of tattoo artists in the South Asian region.
Other activities will include traditional Nepali folk dance and music to keep the audience entertained. World renowned dancer and performer Sana will mesmerise all with the traditional Japanese Hanya dance show. And of course, a body suspension act — Tolerance of Pain will be performed by artists from Northteam Suspension and Indigenak Modification Industries from Spain.
And for the first time, a yoga instructor Priyanka Gupta from Delhi, India has been invited for Hatha Yoga sessions which will be “beneficial for tattoo artists who spend long stretches of hours in their studios”.
Moreover, Mohan’s Dragon Series tattoo ink will be launched at the convention. As per the release, Mohan Gurung is the first Nepali and South Asian tattoo artist to have an ink manufactured in his name. He is also the sponsored artist of Quantum Tattoo, an American Ink company that uses organic pigments in its ink which is considered safer and long lasting.
Handicraft exposition, thanka painting display, food and drinks stalls and merchandise sales are some other attractions of the event.
