Nepal is One of the World’s Best Stargazing Sites

On November 4, 2016 – National Geographic, a global nonprofit organisation committed to exploring and protecting the planet earth, has published a list of “World’s Best Stargazing Sites”. The list counts seven different destinations, including Everest National Park, Nepal. The list continues like,

Atacama Desert, Chile
High Volcanoes of Hawaii
National Parks of the Southwest United States
La Palma, Canary Islands
Western Australia Outback
Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal – and –
Alqueva Dark Sky, Portugal

National Geography writes, “This is where the roof of the world touches the sky. My most dramatic stargazing experience was in Himalayan villages and on hiking treks here, especially in Sagarmatha (“Forehead in the Sky” in Nepali) National Park, near Namche Bazaar, where stars appear over Mount Everest.”

After a big recognition from another travel portal, Lonely Planet as the best-valued destination for 2017, this another big acknowledgement from National Geographic may assist Nepal for the vigorous development of the Nepalese tourism industry.
