KATHMANDU, May 29: The government on Wednesday awarded Everest Diamond Jubilee medals to record-setting Everest summiteers to mark the 60th anniversary of the first ascent of the world´s tallest mountain.
Khil Raj Regmi, chairman of the interim election government, awarded the medals to 40 national and international climbers. Nepal to celebrate diamond jubilee of first Everest ascent
KATHMANDU, May 22: The government is organizing various programs to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the first ascent of the Mt Everest.
“On May 26, International Everest Conference will be held in Khumjung, tree plantation program will be carried out at Hillary Park and paper presentation will be made by experts on mountaineering and climate change,” Subash Nirola, officiating CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), told a press meet on Wednesday.National and international experts in tourism and mountaineering have been invited to attend the conference.
