This short and quite easy trek offers spectacular mountain views from Poon Hill. Passing through picturesque mountain villages and climbing through beautiful forests of rhododendrons, you wind your way up the terraced hillsides to emerge onto ridges where you have the most incredible views of the Annapurnas. The highlight and high point of the trek is Poon Hill (3190m), where you have one of the best panoramic views of the Himalayas in Nepal – Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and the mesmerizing fish-tail pinnacle of Machhapuchhre.
Trek Grade: This trek is grade 2. The trails are very good and you trek mostly at altitudes under 3000m.

Arrive in Kathmandu
Your first impression of arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport is an experience in itself. But don’t be worried by the apparent confusion as your airport representative will be waiting to welcome you with your name written on a placard. Depending on traffic, you will be at your hotel within 20 minutes or so.

You will have plenty of time in the afternoon to prepare for your trek and check that you have everything you need. You might want to visit Thamel, the tourist hub of Nepal where you can easily find all you need for trekking. Or if you just want to relax, there are many cafes and bakeries serving excellent local tea and coffee. It is best to avoid the street food, however, unless you have a very strong stomach. It is recommended that you have an early night as you will have an early start in the morning.
Drive/fly to Pokhara
You have the option to drive or fly to Pokhara. You have the rest of the day free to enjoy a walk by the lake, enjoy the bustle of Lakeside with its many cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops or if you have more time, go sightseeing. More…
Trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m, 3-4 hrs)
You are driven to Birethanti (2 hours) where you start your trek. Your ACAP pass will be checked here. Following the main street through the village, a wide trail leads through bamboo forests and pasture. Climbing steadily as you follow the valley, you pass Hille and reach Tikhedhunga soon after.
Trek to Ghorepani (2790m, 6 hrs)
After breakfast, you descend to cross the Bhurungdi Khola before climbing the steep stone staircase to the Magar village of Ulleri. It is said to have more than 3767 steps (!) though there are several tea shops along the way where you can rest and take in the beautiful scenery. As you climb you see the peaks of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli emerge from behind the foothills. Pasture and cultivated fields soon give way to thick forests of oak and rhododendron.
Climb Poon Hill (3190m, 1 hr), trek to Tadapani (2540m, 6 hrs)
An early start to climb the one hour trail to the top of Poon Hill (3193m) is well rewarded by the sun rising over one of the most spectacular, unobstructed views of the high Himalayas. After breakfast, you continue on your trek towards Tadapani through rhododendron woods.
Trek to Landrung (1645m, 6hrs)
You follow the trail that gently descends through the forest to Gandrung, the main village of the Gurungs who are famous for their bravery and who serve in the British and Indian Gurkha regiments. You continue down to the Modi Khola river before climbing up to Landrung.
Trek to Dhampus (1650m, 5hrs)
The trail follows a ridge to Deurali, passing through forest and scattered villages. Along the way, you continue to be accompanied by spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The village of Dhampus is an interesting village of Gurung people and here you have a good opportunity for a closer look at the daily lives of the locals.
Trek to Phedi (900m, 2 hrs) and drive to Pokhara (1 hr)
You make your final trek down to the road head at Phedi where are picked up to return to Pokhara. The drive takes approximately around an hour and you have the rest of the day in Pokhara free.
Drive/fly to Kathmandu
You have the option to drive or fly back to Kathmandu where you have the rest of the day free.
Departure
You transfer to Tribhuvan Airport to connect with your onward flight. Please note that you should check in three hours prior to your flight time.
